Chanting mantras and meditation often go hand in hand.
Alongside movement and meditation, singing is an essential element in yoga - one that opens the heart, supports emotional well-being, and helps integrate deep spiritual processes.
The sacred sounds, mantras, and musical expression gently guide us back to our inner feeling.

Chanting mantras opens and connects; it calms the mind, helps release tension, and creates a liberating sense of presence - because when we sing, we connect from the deepest part of ourselves.
There’s something truly special and joyful about sharing music in this way.

When I chant mantras, I feel my heart open and my entire being attune to the divine essence of light and love.
It is in this alignment with our higher consciousness that healing occurs - where the soul comes home.
Singing together with others amplifies this healing power and resonates through the entire group, even when your eyes are closed and you are simply listening.

I invite you to sing with me
To open spiritually
To listen with your heart
To experience the light through sound.

Jyotisam api taj jyotis

Listen to Jyotisam api taj jyotis

A beautiful, energizing mantra of deep illumination and inner attunement.
Inspired by verse 13:18 from the Bhagavad Gita, sung in Hindi:
The Light of all lights risen from darkness is the only thing worth knowing,
it is the goal of all knowledge and it is dwelling in the hearts of all.

This mantra touched me deeply. One day it simply came as a song through me - I began to sing, and the music felt heaven-sent.
It remains one of my absolute favorites. I love to sing it… and I love sharing it with you.

Healing sounds and mantras

The experience I have again and again with singing ... Mantra singing is very special, it is healing. I feel that my heart opens and my whole being attunes to the divine essence of light and love. In this atunement with our higher consciousness the healing takes place where our soul comes home. Singing together with others is powerful and healing for the whole group.

In spiritual growth, the development, expression and alignment of the throat center with the heart center is an important spiritual development. By sharing my mantras and music, I hope to help others in this process.

My development in music

Since 1998, I have sung mantras daily... their healing power touched my soul, deep in my heart.

Shortly after the birth of our second child, I met a remarkable man during a spiritual evening. I asked him a question, and his only reply was: “Just wait until you start singing.” His words lingered in my heart. Music and sound had always held deep meaning for me - I am sensitive to what I hear, and I’ve loved singing all my life. From a young age, I wrote poems and songs, yet I had never imagined singing for others.
As a child, I played the alto flute and longed to learn guitar, but there wasn’t much space for that then. I began with piano lessons, learned the basic chords, and eventually taught myself to play guitar.

In 2006, my vocal expression opened on a deeper level after receiving a sacred initiation in Nepal from a Tibetan Buddhist nun.
Later, through initiations in Kriya Yoga and my meeting with Prema Baba Swamiji, my voice became more anchored in my breath.
After a period of inner stillness and integration, I began individual sessions in sound and voice work - first with Jyoti Verhoeff, and later with Jean-René Toussaint. These were deeply enriching, soulful experiences. Jean-René, who understands the beauty of voice from the inside out, helped me access the simple yet powerful force of the breath to transform my voice and carry its full resonance.

During this time, I also learned to play the Georgian panduri and received lessons for about a year and a half in ancient Georgian songs and music.

Beautiful and playful encounters in sound, music, and energy healing came through Blossom Benedict, whom I met several times between 2014 and 2017. I followed her trainings in vocal energy clearing. In 2017, she invited me as a guest to a training weekend in Copenhagen.
That encounter touched me deeply, and I carry with gratitude the energetic essence she offered - how to express healing sound as light and love radiating from the heart.

From this point on, I began offering workshops and gatherings in sound healing and vocal liberation - creating sacred spaces where the heart’s expression could flow freely. I began supporting musicians and yogis in their spiritual growth through intuitive sound, helping them move more freely as human beings, artists, and soul-guided creators.

In 2011, I began reciting the 108 and 1000 names of the Divine Mother every morning - a sacred practice I carried for many years. These days, my Kriya Yoga meditation holds center stage, yet I still recite these holy names with love and devotion.
Since 2016, I have led a monthly satsang in my home, dedicated to Mother Amma. We sing bhajans and mantras, recite sacred names, and share traditional Indian songs. During these gatherings, I often sing with Peter, who accompanies me on the harmonium.

In 2022 and 2023, I had the humbling honor of singing beside Mother Amma on stage during satsang - a profoundly moving and transformational experience. It was the first time I ever spoke and sang before a larger audience.

Then, in August 2023, Prema Baba Swamiji told me he would come visit. Baba had not offered public meditations or retreats for nearly 15 years - and now, he was coming to the Netherlands and asked if I would sing for him...
Tears streamed down my cheeks. I had never dared dream he would visit me in the Netherlands. Yet he had not forgotten that he once asked me: “Will you sing for me when I see you again?”

So I picked up my guitar and panduri. I gathered all the music I had written and sung over twenty years and began writing it down. I applied for copyrights and started recording and publishing my own music - to share the healing power of mantra and sacred sound with a wider circle.
